Falling into Autumn

Here we are heading into the last quarter of the year. The aspen are near peak color and the mountains look spectacular. There has been a bit of snow on the high peaks, but still no mantle…but that will change in the next month.

The real estate business in Buena Vista had a puff of activity during the August and September and it is yet to be seen how the last quarter of the year will go. This is still one of the most beautiful areas in the country, the property inventory is great and interest rates are low…so it is a opportune time to make the move here. For me, there are trails to hike while waiting for the phone to ring…feel free to call. I have worked on real estate deals from the side of mountains!

Autumn in the Rockies

While not record setting, it was a warm summer. There were many days with highs in the 80s…I would have preferred the 60s. At this elevation, 8,000 feet, the sun is so direct that you can feel warm even though the temperature might seem cool. Now we are heading into autumn and the outlook is for above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. At this point in the game, above normal means 70s and that will be OK. Nighttime lows are already in the 30s. We just had our first snow in the high country and that put the frosting on a beautiful mountain scene. Below is Mt. Columbia, one of our 14ers, with a light cover of snow above the colored trees.

Autumn in our part of the state brings traffic to see the changing colors and this year it is bringing some welcome traffic to my real estate office. It’s a nice change!

Thar’s gold in them thar hills

It’s getting to be aspen time in the high country of Colorado when stands of aspen quickly turn yellow and light up the hillsides. On a sunny, blue-sky day in Colorado there is nothing quite like walking through and beneath a large stand of aspen…all of a sudden the world is golden.

With real estate activity picking up a bit in the mountains, many buyers will strike gold as they look for retirement and second homes or lots on which to build. The inventory is very good here in Buena Vista, so finding the dream property is easier this year. If this is the time for you to invest in the mountains, I’d be happy to assist.
